The New Yorker is the pinnacle of publishing for cartoonists. For 90 years the magazine has defined and developed the art of the single panel gag. It maintains an open submission policy, anyone can submit cartoons for consideration- getting published by them is at once accessible and difficult. Come see published originals as well as rejected submissions from well known contributors..
New Yorker cartoonist and Portland resident Shannon Wheeler along with regular New Yorker contributors Drew Dernavich, Matt Diffee, Bob Eckstein, Emily Flake, Sam Henderson, Carolita Johnson, Corey Pandolph, and others showcase numerous originals. Rejected works handpicked by each artist will be shown alongside originals that ran in the magazine. It is a rare opportunity to get insight into the cartoon creation and selection process. It’s also a chance to read funny comics.
